m_o_1874_6az58bshz5zna9fk4vpstybrb7gdq8cnAt Wood School we do our best to support the needs of all the children who enter our setting with the resources that we have.  Many of us have experience of working with children with a variety of needs and we have found that the woodland environment can support the needs of many different children.

However, as we are a private setting we do not have access to external funding which would enable us to provide additional support such as one-to-one support to those children that need it.

This is the approach that we adopt for children with additional needs:

  • Before entering the setting we have an open dialogue with families about the child’s needs and whether we would be able to support them.
  • If we feel like we may be able to support the child’s needs, we suggest they try a day with us to see how the child copes in the setting and whether we are able to support them, working with parents to provide the best level of care that we can. During this trial day we ask that you are available to pick up if we feel your child or other children are unsafe.
